Level Indicators are used to detect the presence and absence of material at predetermined points within a vessel, also known as Point Level Indicators/Sensors. Point Level Sensors are used for high, low and intermediate material level detection. In addition, Level Indicators can be used to detect plugged conditions in chutes and pipes, as well as backup of material within process equipment.
Most common uses of Level Indicators include 1) preventing overfilling of tank/bin by detecting a high level condition and providing the control signal for fill shutoff, and 2) preventing production shutdown due to a material outage by detecting a low level condition.
