Process industries manufacture by formula and manufacturing recipes. These industries are contrasted with Discrete industries that manufacture products by bill of material and discrete parts. Process manufacturing is easily recognized. The end product produced in a Process Industry cannot later be reverted to its basic ingredient components. Examples of Process industries include Chemical, Food, Pharmaceutical and Biofuel processing. Some industries, like Concrete and Cement production, that we have highlighted elsewhere within the Industry section of this website, are also Process industries.
In all of these Process industries, high-value materials often will move through processing with continuous flow, without bottlenecks. In addition, batch processing must produce end products using ingredients and other materials that are stored and processed within a variety of tanks, bins and other types of vessels. The material processed and ingredient components can be liquids, powders and granular bulk materials. Level measurement and control can affect productivity and profitability within your process.
The Model RH/RHX Rotary Paddle Bin Level Indicator is an industry standard in a wide variety of process industry applications. These bin level indicators, as well as the Model CPH Capacitive Proximity Switch, are used to monitor and indicate the presence and absence of material at predetermined points for the purpose of high level control of vessel overfilling and to provide control input for low level indicating material outage conditions.
